My bid
If I were president, here's the plan.
Two halves: the homework, and the design it points to. First an honest reading of what the country actually is — then a society built around the whole arc of a human life, not just its productive middle.
01 · The research
Facts before the fix.
I treated the country the way a turnaround firm treats a company it's been brought in to save: read the books first. Every figure comes from the primary record — Treasury, CBO, the Census, the Trustees — and every one was independently checked before it earned a place here.
The balance sheet
America read like a company — assets, debts, and irreplaceable IP — built from the primary record.
The allocation map
Where the assets sit versus where the need is, and which state proves the model first.
Funding the spine
The honest "how do you pay for it" — tax capacity, what's already on the table, and what the working models cost.
Failure modes
Why recent attempts died — so the plan is built to survive what killed them, not repeat it.
Assets
Still the world's innovation engine, its reserve currency, its magnet for talent. The capacity is real.
Debts
An obligation we booked decades ago and keep deferring — and a beginning-of-life we chronically underfund.
IP
Institutions, research, and ideas others still copy. The question is whether we keep maintaining them.
02 · The arc of support
A life is an arc, not a straight line.
We rise into ability, we carry the load for a season, and we hand what we learned forward. Every point on that arc has a different need and a different gift. Most societies are built for the middle — the productive years — and treat the beginning and the end as problems to manage. That is the mistake this fixes.

Learn, grow, become capable. The fastest learning of a whole life — and it needs room to make mistakes safely while judgment finishes building.
Contribution
Act · ~25 → ~65
Build, carry, give to the next generation. The load-bearing engine that holds up the phase behind it and the one ahead.
Transmission
Archive · ~65 → end
Mentor, steward, hand the knowledge forward. The archive is read, not deleted — the file the next generation boots from.
03 · The rules
A few rules I won't break.
Whatever gets designed on top has to pass these first. If a fix serves a phase but breaks one of these, the fix is wrong — not the rule.

No restriction without provision
Every limit comes paired with a guaranteed alternative. Take away the keys, and you owe the ride. A restriction without provision is abandonment.

Dignity is constant; only capability varies
A newborn, a peak-career adult, and a frail elder have identical standing. Ability is a variable. Worth is not.

Measure capability, not age
Age is a weak proxy. Where fitness for a task matters, test the thing directly. The instrument is the test, not the birthday.

The veil test
A rule is just only if I'd accept it without knowing which side of it I'd land on — young or old, strong or vulnerable.

Refuse abandonment, not loss
Loss can be real, named, and owned. Abandonment — discarding people with no provision — is the one thing this project exists to prevent.
04 · The hard part
Some choices have no good side. I won't pretend otherwise.
A turnaround means hard decisions — the kind that get ducked until they calcify into gridlock. I'd rather make them in the open, with the homework on the table and the cost named out loud, than keep deferring the bill to people who never ran up the tab. Sometimes there just is no win-win. The one line I hold through all of it:
We refuse abandonment, not loss.
Loss can be real, named, and owned. Abandonment — discarding people with no provision, then looking away — is the one thing this whole project exists to prevent. And refusing to choose is also a choice, usually the cruelest one.
05 · Where this stands
This is a draft, and I mean that.
Right now this is mostly the diligence and the design — the homework and the keel, not the finished plan. None of it will be done in my lifetime, and that's fine. It's the start of a change, not the end of one. It's built to be argued with.

The fact base — assets, debts, IP, and what it would cost to fix.

The architecture — the organizing logic any plan must obey.
Not yet
The plan itself — specific policy, in the open, choice by choice.
The plan is only half of it. The other half is everyone deciding to carry their own corner.
